Adding to the conversations and brainstorming that we all think about, writers and creatives that is.
As an author myself, it’s always on my mind, that thorny issue of how to find readers, an audience, to make my work find the right people and platforms. It’s hard. But here goes, the start of the process:
A random selection of ideas I’ve used for myself over the years. We can all add to this so let me know if you can think of other actions.
· Make a TikTok video – trackable, hashtags work, links to buy it, and your focus/brand. Expand on it. Find the timing that works best for you to get views. Respond to comments. Offer readings, craft, more.
· Appearing in others’ newsletters: reach out to the other authors you know and ask to be included with your upcoming events.
· Create a small core group of writers and consistently share each others posts and review their work. Share reviews.
· Reviews: is it worth paying for them or can you build up numbers of reviews with friends and readers? Send out pdf of work and get feedback. Post on your website.
· Writing your own newsletters with info on your book, other’s books, and covering some of the writing-related topics makes sense too
· Sending out freelance pieces and excerpts to online magazines, social media places, with links to your new book
· Having a writing community to share, connect with their audience and friends, get the word out on SM
· Podcasts, your own and others with interviews and readings
· Online Open Mic readings
· Teaching classes: offer a few one-off writing classes around launch time or ongoing but related to the new book
· Ask your known readers to post on Amazon/Goodreads reviews as it can be really hard to get book reviews
