News from Mexico

And a request…to buy some art on Etsy!

Well, what a year this is turning out to be! My passport is finally on its way…30 emails back and forth with England who refused to renew it for the last month…

What exciting things are going on with you? I’ve heard from a few of you, seems like you’re doing alright even if things are – in the bigger picture – off key. Stay safe, take care of each other, be kind…to yourself and each other? That’s all I can think of. I watch from my little village in Mexico and keep track of world news. I stopped the FB addiction for now, the Guardian and Instagram are my weaknesses these days. Yours?

Wanderlust Journal is ticking along. I’m taking queries online, on the website alone, and by word of mouth. I’m starting to reach a wider and different audience now I’m more on Instagram. Do you have any suggestions for stories, who to ask to submit? Or do you have any photos or a travel essay? Let me know.

Wild Dog Press is proud to announce a new book by Sean Prentiss, poems from Italy. I’ll send more info as soon as the PR is ready. If you know of any travel writers looking to publish with a micro-press, tell them to email me and I’ll see if it’s a good fit. Also, do you want to work on the press with us?

For me, I’ve been working each day on sending out queries and applications and painting. I’m simply trying to find ways to be creative and make a living. It shouldn’t be hard, right? Well, I have a few leads on workshops on a couple of great platforms, a potential gig as a ghostwriter for memoirs (!), and so even though my own novels hit an impasse, I’m moving along.

My favorite joy-maker these days is painting. I’ve set up how to sell my watercolors on Etsy. My request then is this, would you jump on the Etsy link (https://www.etsy.com/shop/SleamsArtwork) and take a look? Please first off, can you follow my page? More importantly please buy a print. You then get a link to download and print a funky folk art painting of mine.

You see, I need to get some traction on there. The shop went live yesterday or something and I’ve been working on making the mock-up framed paintings to fit the Etsy aesthetic. So, please, can you buy a print and I’ll pay you back? (I can reimburse you via PayPal.) I really love painting, I love sharing what I do, and for once, I’d like to make a decent income from my work. It’s doable, right?

Right.

Well, that’s all for now, take care and as usual,

Thanks.
